Carry the name of Jesus

By colin - Posted on 22 January 2013

2013 is a new year with new opportunities. There are many things that we have to do this year. But in everything that we have to do I want to remind you of the your overall goal. It is to ‘carry the name’ of Jesus with you wherever you go. Jesus tells all those who follow him in Matthew 28v19 ‘Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.’ It is God's calling  to all believers to be involved in Jesus work.

In Acts 9v15 we have Paul’s specific call as describe to Ananias who God is sending to minister to Paul who has just placed his trust in Jesus and is blind and has much to learn. “Go! For this man is My chosen instrument to carry My name before the Gentiles and kings, and the Israelites. 16 I will show him how much he must suffer for My name!”.

In 2013  you also must realised that you are called to ‘carry the name’ of Jesus wherever you go. Some are called to carry the name to Europe, S. America or Africa. Some are called to carry the name across the street. Some are called to carry the name to family and friends. Some are called to carry the name into schools and university. Some are called to carry the name of Jesus in to work. In short wherever you find yourself this year you are called to carry the name of Jesus. Who ever you meet this year you are called to carry the name of Jesus to them.

It isn’t as hard as you think! – we are all pretty good at carrying names – we carry names with us all the time – SuperDry, Apple, Blackberry, Hollister . Need I go on! We are great at carrying names and boasting about names. And exalting names. All God asks us to do is to is to exalt the name that is above every name, the name of Jesus. To speak much more about him that about any other name. To speak passionately and gloriously about Jesus, his Word and his church. To speak with excitement and enthusiasm about the greatness of the salvation he offers.
